There are several ways to
remove a tree. These include burning the tree, climbing the tree, digging the tree, felling a tree, rigging, using a bucket truck, or using a crane.
- It is best to check with local laws if burning a tree is allowed in a location. To burn a tree, dig deep holes in the ground around the tree. Fill in the holes with dry wood or petrol to start the flame. It may take 12 to 24 hours to completely burn a tree.
- Climbing a tree is a tedious process. A tree worker manually ascends the top of the tree. From there, the tree worker will start removing sections of the tree from the crown down to its trunk. It may take 8 hours or more to remove a tree via the climbing method.
- If the tree is small and the roots are not too deep, digging can be performed to remove it. Dig around the ground in the tree trunk to expose its roots. When the roots are exposed, you can use an axe to chop and detach them from the ground. It will now be easier to take out the tree from the soil.
- Felling means using an axe or chainsaw to create a V-cut on the tree trunk and allow it to fall in the desired direction. Before felling, the tree service team carefully plans escape routes and perimeter clearances for the safety of lives and properties.
- If it is not possible to do tree felling because there is not enough clearance from nearby structures, rigging can be another way to remove a tree. It means using a rope to hold the tree trunk so that tree workers can chop it into pieces before falling to the ground.
- Like climbing, using a bucket truck or cherry pickers means elevating the worker on top of the tree. From there, the tree worker will start removing sections from the crown to the trunk of a tree.
- If the tree is very large, using a crane is the best way to remove it. A crane is a piece of heavy equipment with arms that can lift and move heavy objects horizontally. The chains, sheaves, or wire of the crane can pull the tree from the ground through hydraulic power and move it into a safe zone.
